Local718 Video Shorts
Queens is home to many amazing people and places. With inspiration from our diverse community, Local718 put together a video series capturing the spirit of Queens. The videos will be short profiles of individuals that are making their mark in the neighborhood.
All video shorts (unless otherwise noted) are conceived, shot, produced and edited by C. Smith.
World Class Dancers – Still in his teens, Juan Zapata saw a need for Queens youth to express themselves. He organized a competitive dance troupe in Long Island City in order to help youth stay off the street and improve their lives through dance. I had the great fortune to meet these talented kids at the LIC YMCA and work with them on this video. Click here for the original Local718 post.
Fleas and Biscuits – Watch John Vega as he skillfully constructs his own doggie clothing line right in his Ridgewood Queens apartment. Click here for original post. Note: After publishing the Fleas & Biscuits video post – the New York Daily News picked up the piece and wrote this article.
And, just for fun, a bike ride through Flushing Meadows Park. Can’t get out to the park? Take this virtual tour!
