Astoria’s Best Kept Catastrophe

Posted on June 22, 2010. Filed under: Astoria, Music & Dance |

Who says you can’t add a little country to the big city? Joe Thompson and the Comfortable Catastrophe did just that, right here in Astoria. Featured on WNYC’s Battle of the Boroughs, they rocked the stage and won over voters and judges alike two weeks in a row, taking home the prize for the best musicians performing in the contest that represents all five boroughs. I was lucky enough to catch both of their fantastic performances (click here to watch) at WNYC’s Greene Space. The heart and soul that pours out of Joe’s voice resonates with audiences near and far. Raised in a working class neighborhood, he brings his passion for classic American music to the heart of New York. Receiving an overwhelming round of applause, it was no surprise that they took home the prize for the Ultimate Battle of the Boroughs. Astoria congratulates Joe Thompson and the Comfortable Catastrophe !!
