Wednesday Aug 6thPersepolis plays at Socrates Sculpture Park (Vernon Blvd at Broadway N/W Broadway). This animated film takes place in Iran after the revolutionary regime change. Adapted from a graphic novel, this heartfelt coming-of-age story about a girl who struggles with the normal growing pains of everyday life, in Iran. In addition to fitting in with her family and peers, she must fit in with the new societal rules of her country- like- dressing a certain way, not being allowed to run in public (because things jiggle and men hate that) , and not being able to listen to western music. Her endearing story carries you through her entire life in a touching but very comical narration. Persepolis is a true gem- don’t miss it!

Monday Aug 4th Astoria Park- Ratatouille Bring the kids around sun down for the comical animated flick.

Monday Aug 18th Pacific Standard Pub 82 Fourth Ave btwn Bergen & St Marks 718-858-1951- This relaxed brooklyn bar is great place to get beers on tap and watch movies every other monday night. August 18th is surf night with a double feature beginning with Step into Liquid and ending with Endless Summer. This friendly neighborhood bar provides ample seating in the back with big cumfy couches surrounded by bookshelves over-stuffed with vintage reading material. Looks like a library, but it’s even better. Grab friend and a beer and settle down to watch adventures in surf for the evening!
