Behold, the Holy Trash Can of Colombian Food!

Behold, the Holy Trash Can of Colombian Food!

Como se dice “trashcan” enespanol? El Basurero! Oigo todo tiempo- todos adoran El Basurero (718) 545-3220
32-17 Steinway Street Astoria, NY  11103)

This festive restaurant on 32-17 Steinway Street is no ordinary place to eat…or drink. The minute you walk in, you are transported to what would resemble theme-park attractions, Colombian style. Tacky? Perhaps. Fun? You bet! The food is good but the atmosphere is what really keeps patrons coming back. Serving tapas and traditional entrees and a full bar is there to help you wash everything down. Be sure to go on the weekend to be personally serenaded by a mariachi band in full costume.

I meant con agua tonica

Sunday a week ago< July 14, I visited El Bazurero only for the second time, although this time I went with my brother and wife from Bogota, Colombia and who were visiting NYC.
I was quite disappointed to notice that a problem at the bar still exists, the same thing happened to me the last time I was there with a party of six !!
Twice I asked for vodka and tonic before my late lunch/dinner and both times the barmaid brought to me vodka and soda,
I winded up having a rum and coke since the establishment did not have tonic water, incredible but true, other than that, the food was good especially the little "empanadas",
Another thing, I called several times to make a reservation and nobody answered the phone, for God's sake !!

Food is not good and unpolite waiters. PLEASEdo not waste your time and money in this place.

It’s really amazing to meet different people in different perspective of lives.

Ola, good place and food. Ladies very friendly with respect!

It is a weird name for a restaurant. That names belong to like a clothing, toy or thrift store, any way, even thou the name provides a misconception of a food place, the food is good for those who realy are used to eat good latin american food and not for those with a picky taste. The food is tasty and excellent, well presented in good portions. Your money is worthy for what you get. If you like to eat small portions then go to a Japanese restaurant.

Once inside El Basurero you feel like in a party, even though they should play more typical colombian music (folklore) and stay away from sometimes loud salsa or merengue that interfears while chatting with some one else if you are eating with company. Besides they have TV sets playing all the time with their volume up as well.

I will recommended to see something out of the extraordinary but again not for those with a high class society label attached to their foreheads.

It comes absolutely satisfactorily by enhanced contents.

love this place

i love this place, i love the food, the people, the decorations, everything about this place is awesome. I am Colombian and i can say that this place and La Fonda Antioquena serve good quality colombian food. i know both owners and they are the best people in the world.

THE BEST PLACE TO SPEND NEW YEAR EVE!I love this placeeee!!!!!!!! Me and my Family have spend New years eve here twice and this will be our third year, it is awesome it feels like ur given a Lil piece of Colombia on new years eve!Is the best restaurant in queens , so different, creative and cool atmosphere, not to mention the food & drinks are great.

The name of this restaurant will make you think about what kind of food do they serve in there. The very creative decorations inside the restaurant is from where it draws its name. The food is rich and tasteful plus served in good portions depending on what you eat. Bandeja tipica o paisa is great for those who like to eat a lot, a tasty fish for those who like to eat light, steaks are delicious, sancocho de cola the best in soups. Pretty colombian waitresses were amiable and courteous. I definitively will recommend it.

Great place the food is excellent, hot plate, salad bar and the frozen drinks are fantastic. not to mention the cute bartenders too.
great place to visit.

This place is terrible, the food, the drinks and the staff are horrible like the name that is spell is a GARBAGE!

Very PAINTFUL indeed…

Thanks, your comment says it all! It is… very paintful…

The translation to Spanish is paintful to read. Next time choose a professional to do it.

Hi- Not sure if it’s posted any where yet…but I hear it’s good.

Where can I read their menu?

As stated- It’s not the food that draws the crowd.

Ël Basurero is the WORST Colombian restaurant I’ve been to. Although the decor is cool (trying to imitate Andres Carne de Res in Bogota…), the food was tasteless, the bistec had a big chunk of fat, the service was bad, and it was too expensive for the quality of the food and service. If you want to have Colombian food in Astoria I would suggest going to La Fonda Antioquena, which is next door for more authentic Colombian food.

I REALLY LIKE THIS PLACE IT REMINDS ME WHEN I WAS IN MY COUNTRY, THE ENVIRONMENT IS O SOME AND THE FOOD IS PRETTY GOOD.

I go there often!
I ove the place. It brings you a little bit of colombia while eating. The food is delicious! The drinks are extraordinary. the price is very affordable and there a a great friendly staff.
I enjoyed the birthday songs they have there. Its a great place to take the family!
